Streaming services have significantly transformed TV consumption patterns for audiences. However, it is a misconception that increased time spent watching content at home directly translates to reduced theater attendance. In fact, last year witnessed a groundbreaking performance at the domestic box office, generating a remarkable $11.9 billion in revenue. Moreover, there was a notable 5% increase in the number of movie tickets sold, with approximately 263 million individuals, accounting for 75 percent of the population, having watched at least one movie in theaters.
A study conducted by EY’s Quantitative Economics and Statistics group reveals an interesting correlation: frequent moviegoers are also the ones who consume a larger amount of streaming content.
